WELCOME TO CUBA, NEW MEXICO AND THE SURROUNDING AREA!
Our area is one of the best kept secrets in New Mexico! We aren't too fancy here, but we have a wealth of natural resources, ranging through several climate zones, from high desert to high mountains, all stirred together with a multicultural history that is as interesting as anywhere else in our great state! Come here and climb a mountain, cross country ski or snowmobile through deep snow, and likely not see another soul! Hike to well-preserved Indian ruins or up across high mountain meadows or drive miles and miles over desert roads past volcanic plugs and weird formations and likely not see another soul! Fish our high mountain streams or hunt for trophy elk or just camp under stars so bright it'll take your breath away! No, we aren't too fancy here, but we think that's the way you'll like it! Check us out! Click through the links on the left of this page!

THEY SHOULDN'T BE HERE, BUT...
These aspens just to the side of the Arroyo Chihuilla (locals pronounce it chee-wee-lee) are at about 6,500 feet above sea level. Aspens normally don't grow below 8,000 feet or so. So, some micro weather phenomenon here gives us this interesting view. The Nacimineto Mountains are in the back ground and Cuba, New Mexico is about 7 crow-flying miles to the upper left corner. |
